Abstract
A product design is robust if factors which vary during production and
consumption have minimal effect on quality loss and product functionality.
The Taguchi design of experiment approach to robust product design is
introduced and contrasted with a response surface approach. Tradeoffs
between product functionality and robustness are discussed.
